For too long, the chicken meat industry has operated and thrived in secrecy. Most Australians are unaware that every year, over 700 million sentient chickens live short, miserable lives, to meet the demand for cheap chicken.

Chickens are genetically selected to grow too big and fast for their own bodies to handle. They don’t get enough space, light, or clean air. And they are killed using outdated, inhumane methods.

Most Australians would be shocked to learn of the grim reality of industrialised chicken farming and would join us in demanding higher welfare standards. But how can they join us if they don’t know about the problem?

The Better Chicken Australia campaign aims to lift the lid on chicken cruelty and improve Australian chicken welfare standards. Your donation will help expose the suffering, while also increasing pressure on food retailers and industry to change.

The road ahead is long and your support will keep the momentum going. Please donate today so we can demand – and achieve – better standards for chickens.

We can do better for chickens

By donating today, you’ll help lift the lid on chicken cruelty and be at the forefront of a community determined to secure systemic and historic animal welfare changes for chickens.

Your support will empower us to

  1. Ensure the truth about chicken suffering is made known to the public.

  2. Call on food businesses and retailers to demand higher welfare standards from their supply chain.

  3. Remind the industry that the vast majority of Australians want stronger welfare standards for chickens.
